The gate agent announces that they will now start boarding the flight.
Immediately everyone rises out of their comfy seats and proceeds to stand in line. Within minutes the queue contains the majority of the passengers eager to board. Which I think is odd.
It’s not like you don’t have visibility of the queue as the seats are right beside it.
It also takes less then 10 seconds to get from the furthest away seat to the gate agent.
Furthermore if you aren’t in the first 10-20 people you will most likely be standing waiting for at least 5-10 minutes.
Then why does the majority of people prefer to stand in a line queuing rather than sitting and joining the queue at the opportune moment.
I think this happens because we’re social animals and we don’t want to be left behind.
We see everyone else moving quickly and it creates an urgency in us to move quickly.
Especially with flights, there’s so much anxiety around the whole experience: luggage, missing the flight, getting through security etc. its enough to put anyone in an anxious state of mind.

Urgency this is the most important part of the flight get on the plane. This is what all those hours of preparation and traveling have been leading up to.
And you see everyone else move so you move. So it creates and urgency in you. Look everyone else is moving quickly let’s move.
it’s because they’re scared of missing the flight. Anxious moment.
