Pushing tasks

Tasks not done immediately can be scary. They’re scary because once you have the ability to do the task and push it once what’s to say it won’t be pushed again? Then this task becomes prone to slipping further and further until it never gets done.

The fear of not completing it straight away is I believe based on a lack of faith that they will be done in the future.

That once you get to that point in the future to complete it the task will simply be pushed further back again.

In Zen Habits Leo Babauta talks of listing your three most important tasks for each day. You then do these MIT’s first thing before anything else. This practice is a way of staying focused on your long term goals whilst combating the need to deal with the nearest loudest and latest emergency in your day to day life.
