Reality TV

Some people think nothing of going on reality TV. They think it’ll be fun and it could prove to be a shortcut to becoming a ‘somebody’.

I think that some people approach it with a careless attitude and fail to recognise the nature of the beast. The TV producers are selling your emotions. They’re selling the scenes where you melt down or blow up. They will manipulate the show to get the emotional reactions they’re looking for.

In the moments when you want space and privacy the cameras will close in and broadcast it.

You could be bubbly and charming for 99% of your time on the show and the editing team may only show the 1% where you lost the plot with your fellow contestants.

Your perception, your fame, is at the mercy of the producers and how they edit your interactions.
