When considering a gift recently received, the effort and thoughtfulness of the giver can enhance the gift.
If the gift was extremely convenient to acquire then it shows little effort eg. money is quite a convenient gift but a limited early edition copy of a book may be extremely hard to find.
How much thought did the giver put into the gift? Eg. Does their gift reflect that brief meaningful conversation you had with them months ago or are they gifting you the same thing everyone else gets?
Fair to say the more effort and thoughtfulness put into a gift the more likely an emotional response will be stirred.
