In the situation of a live interview:
The interviewee wants to look good.
The audience wants to see/hear something interesting.
And it all hangs on the interviewer. What is their goal?
Do they want to make the interviewee look good? Or do they want to provide the audience with something interesting to see/hear?
The interviewer’s goals will determine the difficulty of the questions, the tolerance for waffle and the persistence for answers.
