Have you ever interacted with a company and the person on the other end, the employee, signs off with ‘team member’ instead of their actual name?
I can’t help but feel that this small level of abstraction, feels like the company is hiding something.
Maybe I’m dealing with a different employee each time? Maybe I’m dealing with a robot?
Either way, an interaction with someone who doesn’t reveal their name feels less trustworthy.
Can you imagine if this same interaction happened in real life?

Hi Thomas, I’m Team Member
You would think this person a weirdo and immediately whip up an excuse to leave straight away.
How can you build trust with someone when they don’t give you their real name?
