You hesitate, putting your name down will mean taking full responsibility for this movie. So if it’s a hit, you’ll get the majority of the praise!
But what if it’s a flop?
Then you’ll get all the blame! Can you handle all this potential blame? Could it be a flop?
What if I just signed it Director X? I’ve seen directors of music videos do that. Maybe I could do the same?
But then if it’s a hit, people wouldn’t believe it was me. They might think I’m just taking credit for this anonymous director?

It’s a scary thing to put your name to a piece of work. The potential negative judgement adds a seed of doubt and taking full responsibility despite this, is a brave act.
