Waiting for motivation

As Chuck Close said:

“Inspiration is for amateurs; the rest of us just show up and get to work. If you wait around for the clouds to part and a bolt of lightning to strike you in the brain, you are not going to make an awful lot of work.”

I’d like to paraphrase this quote to substitute inspiration for motivation.

“Motivation is for amateurs, the rest of us show up and get to work”

Take jogging for example. Nobody ever feels like going for a jog. There are an infinite amount of more pleasurable activities than jogging.

I’d argue that nobody enjoys jogging. I reckon people enjoy the after effects of running, the endorphins and pride that you pushed through the difficult part.

If you’re waiting around for motivation/inspiration to strike, you’ll be waiting forever.
