Observation number 1:
A friend of mine worked in a shop once and one of his duties in this shop was to wash cars. He told me that Christmas Eve was the busiest time of year for car washes. It was so busy that some years he spent the whole day washing cars.
Observation number 2:
In my experience, a huge amount of people get their haircut just before Christmas.
Observation number 3:
People often sport the clothes they got for Christmas when meeting friends/family around Christmas.
And now for my final trick I shall draw a conclusion from these three observations!
Conclusion
One aspect of Christmas is reuniting with friends and family. And sometimes friends and family ask tough questions.
Questions like: ‘How is life?’, ‘What are you doing now?’, ‘Do you have a girlfriend yet?’, ‘Are you still job hunting?’.
These questions can be tough when your life isn’t quite where you want it to be and when you care about the audience’s respect and perception of you.
So I think that people find it’s easier to manage other’s expectations of you when you take care of the external factors like the cleanliness of your car, the newness of your clothes and the tidiness of your hair.
