After watching an ice skating rink for just a few minutes I noticed that the kids fall down a lot more.
I don’t think this is because of poor technique, the adults and kids were equally bad in their ice skating skill.
I think it was because the kids were simply much braver, they wanted to go fast and were willing to fail to do so.
The adults possibly looking to avoid the physical pain of hitting the ice or the emotional pain of publicly failing, tiptoed along with a lot more caution.
I’d love to see a study done to see who learned and improved their technique quicker but I don’t have one handy and I have the sneaky suspicion that the kids would win due to their willingness to fail.
