Perseverance

I am currently taking ‘The Marketing Seminar’ (an online course) by Seth Godin.

It cost quite a bit of money but it was an easy decision for me as I am such a big Seth fan. Just off the top of my head I’ve bought 7 of his books, have listened to every podcast episode he’s done, read every one of his daily blog posts since subscribing and even started my own daily blog!

Anywho, last week I saw there was going to be a kick off call that night and Seth was going to be attending!

I immediately cleared my schedule to make that call. In my mind I had to, this was a chance to be on the same call with Seth! Live! There was no way I was missing this!

So 6:30 rolls round, I’m on the call, Seth is on the call, it’s happening!!

I said to myself this feels more like I’m watching another one of the countless interviews I’ve seen him do on YouTube.

I was tempted to pin his feed just so I could convince myself this is real.

So Seth kicks off the meeting with a short speech (it was amazing as per usual) and then the moderator says we’ll now be fielding questions for Seth.

So the meeting chat is going off! Every two seconds you see another submission. At one point someone said there was around 150 people attending and you could tell by the frequency of the messages in this chat.

So I thought to myself: ‘ah yeah I can throw in a question, I doubt it’ll be answered but why not?’

To explain my skepticism, since listening to his podcast I’ve submitted maybe twenty questions to Seth and none of them have been answered.

So I figured the odds of my question being answered are very slim. But I still aspired to having a question answered, in fact one of my goals for 2020 was to have a question answered by Seth.

Then next thing I know, Seth has finished answering the last question and the moderator asks me to unmute and ask Seth the question I just submitted.

HOLY DUCKING SH*T! HOLY DUCKING SH*T! HOLY DUCKING SH*T!

Ok be cool! BE COOL!! BE COOL GOD DAMN IT!!

So not only did I get to be on a call with Seth but I got to ask him a question too!!

Surreal is the only way I can describe it.

To be fully honest I can remember the crucial nugget but the rest of his answer is a complete blur! I was just so excited that this was actually happening.

And I can’t wait to get the recording to have proof that it did happen!

The car ride home was energetic to say the least 😛

So to wrap up this post I’d like to assign perseverance as the morale of this story. I hope it provides you with inspiration to persevere in your life!

I still can’t believe it happened 😂
