You are perched on the edge, staring down the snowy mountain. You’re decked out in all the ski gear, you’ve had a few quick lessons and chose to start out on a nice easy green slope.
This will be your first proper bit of skiing.
And you’re terrified.
But you start and eventually you make it to the bottom without dying and then you try again and you don’t die and again and again.
Each run without incident is building a case in your head that this activity of skiing does not require death level fear.
After a while you actually start to enjoy it.
With each exposure the fear lessens and the courage grows
The great thing (in my opinion) is that you can apply this to any situation.
Feeling the fear and inching forward anyway until you become courageous.
