Obedience at work. It can be a slippery slope.
On the one hand you want to please your boss but on the other hand you don’t want to become an automaton and render yourself completely replaceable.
So the difficulty comes in the threading the needle.
I think the optimal balancing act revolves somewhere around obeying just enough to keep your job but also showing enough initiative to excel at your job.
If you find yourself working for a boss that micromanages to the point that they dictate your every move, well then I would say run!
I think there is no job security in these roles and it’s only a matter of time before they realise that they can outsource the job to something quicker (AI) or someone cheaper.
It’s a grey area but I think this approach is the best way for long term job security.
