In times of despair it is only natural for the confused and scared to look to their leaders to guide them to safety. A leader might have a nice easy job during peace time but during war, chaos, and uncertainty, now that is the time for the leaders to shine.
Winston Churchill wouldn’t have been any good if he went missing everytime trouble reared it’s ugly head.
Michael Jordan would’ve been anonymous if he didn’t step up when times got tough.
Steve Jobs would not be a household name if he didn’t roll up his sleeves when surrounded by the fog of uncertainty.
Troublesome times is simultaneously when we need our leaders the most and when we see what they’re made of.
In this scenario I don’t believe the key ingredient is never making a mistake, I think it’s perseverance.
I think what makes a leader great is that they are willing to wrestle with a problem until they either solve it or go down with the ship. They never quit on their followers, especially during times of turmoil.
