It’s Friday night and George is alone in his flat.
The music from the pub downstairs was deafening.
According to the sign George passed it was Ladies night.
It had crossed George’s mind to attempt socializing downstairs but it was quickly dismissed with thoughts like:
‘Going to a pub on your own would be mortifying’
And
‘You’re terrible at small talk’
George’s fear was keeping him at home but the pain of his loneliness was encouraging him to leave.
Eventually the pain outweighed the fear and George headed to the pub.
Woo well done George!
Sometimes overcoming fear is used to avoid pain rather than chasing greatness.
