Confrontation is rattling

Confrontation is rattling.

Even when it goes well we’re not safe from doubt. We seek reassurance and repeatedly ask ourselves – should I have said that?

It’s so anxiety inducing that just hearing someone else’s story about confrontation is enough to provoke creating an internal defence should we ever be in that situation.

Why is it so rattling?

I think because confrontation is fraught with high emotions and plenty of opportunities for mistakes.

It’s rare for someone to regret what they say when they have plenty of time to think objectively and fashion a response.

It’s common for people to agonise over a spontaneous comment shouted whilst surrounded by the red mist.
