I find there are anecdotes from certain storytellers that you have to take with a pinch of salt.
As someone who I can’t remember once said:
‘Don’t let the truth get in the way of a good story’
So when I sense exaggeration in a story I make sure to label it as ‘a version of the truth’.
But reflecting on my response to suspected embellished vignettes I came to the conclusion – isn’t everything a version of the truth?
Don’t even the most truthful raconteurs omit details?
Doesn’t everyone take a unique outlook on everyday events on a daily basis?
