Alfred’s philosophy

Alfred cautiously stands up, attempts a few steps and then falls over.

Alfred pulls himself up again, makes a valiant effort but hits the ground again.

Alfred is a year old and he’s learning to walk.

Now I can’t read the minds of babies but I highly doubt Alfred’s internal monologue is…

“F*cksake Alfie, that’s the third time in a row, pick up your damn left foot!”

Alfred is not dissecting each attempt, he’s not beating himself up and he’s not complaining about his failures.

He is simply putting in the hours.

He is going to keep picking himself back up until he learns instinctively how to stay up.

It’s perseverance in it’s purest form.

If you’re an adult struggling to make progress maybe Alfred’s philosophy could help you?
