It was a rather peculiar situation.

Six people of varying degrees of authority were sitting around a table waiting for someone to make a decision.

The Big Cheese wasn’t present you see and in her absence she left a giant metaphorical hook in the middle of the room.

The team had come to an impasse. The project couldn’t move forward without a decision.

Someone had to get on the hook.

But getting on the hook means exposing oneself to the potential downfall of your decision!

If the results are calamitous and there is an investigation as to who was responsible then you will have to step forward and own up.

Hence the group’s hesitation.

Deniability can be a huge hindrance to productivity.
