Micromanagement to laissez-faire

Donal’s new manager is Pierre. Pierre’s laissez faire management style is causing Donal anxiety.

Why?

Because Donal’s previous manager was a micromanager.

Donal used to have daily meetings with his manager but now he only has half an hour a week.

Donal went from knowing exactly what his boss wanted to constantly guessing.

I think Donal’s anxiety is natural. I think, to go from constant reassurance to absolute freedom, would make anyone nervous.

If I could talk to Donal I would say – increased levels of anxiety are expected with more autonomy and decision making responsibility. And yes the path ahead of you is harder but it’s also much more rewarding.

You’re just out of practice.

When it comes to decision making, remember there are no guarantees for success. Nobody can tell the future. This might work, this might not work.
