Ciaran usually finished work at half 5.
Everyday.
He was Mr. Reliable in this area of his life.
But last night Ciaran finished work at 7 and now he is sleeping soundly, safe in the knowledge that he is done.
He doesn’t have to spend the rest of the evening restless in the uncomfortable limbo of a nearly finished project.
At 5:29pm Ciaran’s anxiety chirped up with:
“What if something comes up first thing in the morning? Where are you going to find the time to finish it?”
There’s a nice peaceful certainty in ‘done’, there’s all sorts of possibilities for derailment in the unfinished state.
