I loath last minute projects.
I detest needless anxiety.
I hate staying up all night, rushing around madly and making reckless decisions just to submit on time.
I think this stress is unnecessary.
I think the panic can be avoided.
I think John Cleese summarised it beautifully with the following short sentence:
“Get your panic in early”
Everyone gets nervous about deadlines.
The difference is that some use the nerves to fuel the work and some let the mild anxiety gnaw at them until it turns into the much more sinister trifecta of stress, panic and guilt.
Starting immediately prevents all nighters.
Beginning when you have free time, when the deadline is miles away, is an investment worth its weight in gold.
The trade off is simple:
Procrastinate now and panic later
Or
Start now and sleep soundly.
The other benefit of commencing early is that you give yourself more time to nurture and develop ideas.
For example a tiny thought like running Facebook ads at the start of the week could be fleshed out into a multi-faceted, highly specific, precisely targeted campaign by the end of the week.
