Schrödinger’s crush

Gunther: ‘That’s her there’

Rick: ‘Which one? The one with pimples all over her face?’

Gunther: ‘No! Next to her in the white shirt and jeans’

Rick: ‘Ah!…So go talk to her!

Gunther: ‘What? Why would I do that?’

Rick: ‘Because you said it was love at first sight! Don’t you want your relationship with her to start?’

Gunther: ‘Yeah but…I can’t just go up to her in the canteen!’

Rick: ‘Why not? I’ll go with you!’

Gunther: ‘I’d look like a freak!’

Rick: ‘But you’ve never had a conversation with her! How are you supposed to be in love with her if you’ve never even spoken to her?’

They had reached a crossroads.

Rick was making some good points but Gunther didn’t want to leave his seat.

What if they had nothing in common and every interaction was like drawing blood from a stone?

Gunther’s fantasy would go up in smoke!

And Rick knows this.

Rick’s not trying to be mean, he just wants his friend to leave dream world and find a ‘real’ connection.

Which could be with the girl in the white shirt and jeans.

But Gunther is never going to find out by avoiding her.

She’s like Shrodinger’s crush to him.

By keeping his distance she both loves him back and hates him and at this moment that’s better then confirming dislike for Gunther.
