‘I get so tired of trying to see the silver lining and opportunity in everything. Sometimes I just want to scream and give out and push people over!’
‘So do it!’
‘What?’
‘Go knock that kid’s ice cream onto the ground!’
‘Really?’
‘Yeah go do it!’
‘But that’s so mean!’
…
I think when you have to stay positive it’s a chore and a burden. But interestingly all it takes all it takes is the prospect of quitting and most people choose to be positive.
I never really understood it when people said you choose your mood. That makes it sound so easy, convenient and not my experience at all.
But more recently I can understand what the ‘all knowing they’ meant.
It’s harder to go back to work if I’ve watched TV on my lunch break rather than read a book.
When I let my inbox determine my agenda I usually end the day panicky and stressed.
Leaving my phone off all day usually makes for a more productive day.
All these little choices give me the best chance possible for a good day.
When it’s a choice positivity is no longer exhausting because you can choose not to be whenever you want. You don’t have to do anything.
