Fonty Font

I’ve just started reading a new book and the font is giving me school boy flashbacks. It reminds me of novels that were mandatory reads. Books that were printed in the 50’s or 60’s where it appears the approach was to squash as much text as possible with every page.

Which got me thinking.

Did the author/publisher deliberately print in this font for precisely that association? Do they want people to feel like they’re a student again reading a book?

After all my copy of the book is brand new, printed in a time where there are much more legible fonts and that particular style is no longer the norm.
