Packaging stories

It’s been a few years since I bought a new iPhone but I remember opening the box vividly.

The designers at Apple packaged it in such a way that it felt like an unveiling (the boxes were so close in width and length that to get to your new phone you had to pull the top half off the bottom half and it created like 2 seconds of suspense).

It was clear how the package designers at Apple saw the iPhone. As a product of prestige and magnificence.

Now, what would your packaging say about you?

That you prefer comfort over style?

That you want attention?

That you think highly of yourself?

Fiona Harrold theorises that there are limiting self beliefs hidden in our choice of clothes.

In her book ‘Be your own life coach’ she says:

“Unless you shine and glow on the outside you’re undervaluing your own personal worth and letting others see this too. What you’re actually conveying is that you don’t matter that much.”

An interesting thought and one that I think has some merit to it.

I don’t think it means you should wear a three piece suit doing the gardening but it can gnaw at a potential nerve that you could be dressing better and cut through excuses such as:

“Yes it’s really nice but I don’t want to wear it just in case I stain it and ruin it. I’ll just wear this old hoodie instead.”
