I think the humour comes from how long the conversation goes on for and how many similarities the writers conjured.
I think it’s quite an impressive display of lateral thinking so to take a stab at finding humour in drawing similarities myself i’d like to hypothesise that meeting your in-law’s is a lot like being on trial.
