Sir Mark Rylance

At the age of 55 Sir Mark Rylance starred in ‘A Bridge of Spies’ and after Spielberg’s annointment it seems like he had broken into Hollywood.

Famous directors put him in their movies, he won an Oscar, he even earned himself a knighthood!

And I should say Rylance didn’t pick up acting when he was 54, he had been acting since he was a teenager. Prior to his movie making he was mostly acting in theatre productions.

I think we can all agree that 55 is quite late for your breakthrough. Most actors we see burst onto our screens in their twenties or thirties.

Rylance is living proof that you can still be successful via the scenic route.
