I was watching ‘Christopher Robin’ last night and couldn’t help but wonder about the underlying theme of the movie.
Father works too hard, neglects his family, rediscovers his joy and becomes a fun loving family man again.
It’s a tale as old as time and I imagine the filmmakers tell it to remind viewers of what is important in life.
There’s hundreds if not thousands of these movies.
‘It’s a wonderful life’, ‘Click’ and ‘Elf’ are just a few I can name off the top of my head.
I reckon if the filmmakers can reunite just one family they will feel like they did their job.
Contrast that with Christopher Nolan who aims to present the audience with something new.
He strives to produce something original. He wants to explore space and dreams and time travel and push the boundaries of cinema. He wants to wow his audiences and leave them in awe. He wants to tell stories of such depth that he often runs a high risk of confusing people.
You couldn’t compare ‘Tenet’ with ‘Christopher Robin’ because they’re in two different categories with contrasting goals.
So how about you reader, if you are a creator, what is the change you seek to make?
