Busy is a choice

“Busy is a choice. Stress is a choice. Joy is a choice. Choose well” Ann Voskamp

I never really understood how you could choose to be busy.

Surely busyness comes from being a victim to circumstance?

Then I noticed an urge to check my email.

Even though I was in the middle of a task, even though I checked it just 3 minutes ago, even though I’m up to my eyeballs with work.

I felt the need to find out if more work was coming my way.

And there it was, the choice.

It was up to me to either ignore my inbox or add to the overwhelming feeling of busyness.

My theory is that it’s linked to self sabotage, because how could one be expected to do good work when one is so insanely busy?
