Difference makers

I’m going to go out on a limb here and say it’s rare for charity workers to quit their jobs to become stockbrokers or lawyers.

I reckon the outliers struggle to get past the hoardes moving in the opposite direction.

The highly paid executive quits her job to do something more meaningful with her life.

It’s been done so often in books, movies and real life that it’s become a cliché.

But it hints to a fundamental truth – people like purpose.

I doubt anyone regrets the time spent helping someone in need.

I bet everyone loathes the time spent fussing over an inconsequential detail to satisfy an egomaniac for a project that will be forgotten about tomorrow.

You might enjoy the job a bit more if you felt like you made a difference, even the smallest, slightest, tiniest difference.
