Knowing the premise of ‘The Room’ helped me prepare for the from subject matter that was to come.
I had heard it was a good movie so I was ready to push through the unpleasantness but had someone told me it was a comedy I would’ve been horrified.
I think Notting Hill is a great movie, it ticks all the rom com boxes emphatically.
But as a horror movie it’s terrible, as a thriller it’s awful, and as a documentary it’s downright woeful.
There’s no blood and guts, no jump scares, no encounters with killers and very little historical accuracy.
Ultimately all of art is subjective and just because you like rom coms does not guarantee you’re going to like Notting Hill.
But genre and the categorisation it offers does provide some help in the murky waters that is individual opinions.
