It’s been no secret that Man United have not been doing well since Sir Alex left.
After Ferguson departed, 8 years ago, there has been 5 different managers put in charge.
If you were a Man United player you might think:
Here is a ready made gift wrapped excuse. I could use this to my advantage!
Then the players could turn to all those hurling abuse at them and say:
Well how can we be expected to play well when there’s all this managerial turmoil?
It would be so easy to use this excuse. It’s iron clad, no one could debate it. It’s definitely a contributing factor to the team’s poor performances.
The fact that so many agree it’s an issue would beautifully hide any inadequacies or lack of effort on the player’s part, factors that aren’t related to the manager at all.
You can’t take responsibility and use an excuse at the same time.
You’re either up for the challenge or evading blame.
