Productivity trap

Whenever Hercules successfully decapitated a head of the Lernaean Hydra he was rewarded with two more heads to decapitate.

It’s like the untold secret of productivity.

The trap that inevitably follows.

If you show yourself to be an efficient worker, someone who can crank out a quality product in record time, you’ll inadvertently attract requests to repeat the act, regardless of how stressed you were to make that record time.

It’s like a tightrope act, too slow and you’ll be in danger of being let go but too fast and you’ll set expectations so high that you’ll get perilously close to burning out trying to meet them.
