It can feel very counterintuitive to schedule time to do nothing at all. To deliberately be unproductive.
It can feel wrong and wasteful.
Surely if we have a free hour we should be filling that time with some activity that will achieve a long term goal?!?
I mean, come on now! We’re only on this earth for a limited amount of time and we could die at any moment, we need to get moving!
We need to be doing not vegetating!
That urge to get things done feels good. It feels right. It feels like you’re making it. That you are taking care of business.
And yet it’s that pressure to make use of every second that subtly drives more and more people to burnout.
And burnout is not productive. Burnout takes take months or years to recover from.
So somewhere between the overworked employee and the couch potato there is a sweet spot. A balance between efficiency and inefficiency.
A persona who knows how to deliberately be unproductive, guilt free.
