The living room prison

They were going to spend the whole day lounging about anyway but when they found out they had to (by government decree) stay indoors, all of sudden the living room, their perceived safe haven, became a prison.

Similarly when the isolation period was up, when the COVID sentence complete, there wasn’t a huge celebration for their renewed freedom.

They didn’t immediately fly to Paris or visit all their friends across the country.

It was just a tiny trip to their local cafe and back.

On the broad scale of adventures it could be considered quite mundane.

So, to analyse this human behaviour, I would say the torture of isolation is mostly a mental one.

The country is in uproar when the government limits their freedom but once they get it back, a tenner says the majority will squander it on social media and TV.

It’s having the choice that we like, not necessarily choosing it.
