Expediting the process

The general consensus for getting married seems to be you need to be dating and potentially living together for 3-5 years before getting engaged.

Unless…

Unless there is a biological clock ticking.

Then it seems to be more acceptable for the couple to expedite the process.

So, if two 18 year olds got married, regardless of how long they have been together, they would likely be the talk of the town and the majority would agree that they rushed into it.

But if two 30 year olds got engaged after only a year of knowing each other, the gossip takes a different tone.

‘Ah they are of a certain age’

Such is the societal pressure for matrimony, that the above comment is followed up with:

‘You don’t want to be 40 and still not married!’
