Responsible adults

One of my old rugby coaches used to say a player with good hands is one who could catch a bad pass and give a good pass and his constant refrain was – don’t shovel on shit!

I can see a parallel in the working world.

The chain of anger.

The CEO shouts at the VP, the VP roars at the head of department, the head of department lambasts the middle manager and so on and so forth.

Now in this scenario I see a woeful shirking of responsibility.

The CEO has ignored his duty of care to communicate like a professional and everyone else is simply shoveling on shit.

I think each human above the age of 17 is responsible for their own actions and emotions.

Just because someone shouts at you doesn’t give you the excuse to shout at others.

The person who refuses to shovel on shit, who draws a line in the sand and says the buck stops with me I shall not pass on this anger is truly a responsible adult in my eyes.
