200k a week

I always thought it was harsh on footballers to reduce their jobs down to ‘all they do is kick a football for a living’ and then complain that they’re getting paid £200k per week.

Yes they kick balls for a living but the salary also considers the pressure from their home fans, the in-person abuse from away fans in the stadium, the online death threats to their family, their romantic life being splashed across the newspapers, the effigagys of them burning in the street, the short career span, their bins being looked through, and the inability to walk down the street without being mobbed.

The salary factors in a lot more than merely kicking a ball.

I think most would crumble up into a ball and plead to go back to their 30k a year job to get away from the public scrutiny.

The money doesn’t just consider the mechanical task, it also (should) consider the mental and emotional toll.
