We made the mistake of getting too attached to a house.
We were too far gone into the dream of living there.
We didn’t even entertain the notion that we might not get it.
Then when we didn’t get it the devastation was unbearable.
Now we’re bidding on another house and I don’t need to coax myself out of the dreamworld, pain has got this.
The devastation has automatically kept my fantasies in check, I didn’t have to consciously do anything.
