Recently, as a coach, I had to call players to tell them if they made the squad or not.
Fortunately it was all good calls I had to make.
What was very funny was the variety in the reactions.
The experienced knew what was coming, knew the phone call was a formality, was relaxed on the call and were confident in their spot on the team.
The inexperienced god bless em, thought they were in trouble, were panicky on the call, and were not so confident that they made it.
The joys and emotional rollercoaster of the first times. The sanded off edges of the nth time.
