I don’t think bowling is conducive to good conversational flow.
It seems like it should.
With people sitting around waiting you feel the pull to start small talk with the person beside you.
But the problem is that someone has to get up and bowl every minute or so.
This constant dipping in and out, means the conversation stops and starts constantly.
