Not too easy so that the speaker didn’t appear lazy and not too hard so that the listener wouldn’t engage.
The speaker knew what they were doing.
They knew the listener was a problem addict and the speaker wanted the problem off their plate and the speaker did it masterfully.
The bait was laid out and snapped up like an alcoholic finishing off an unattended drink
