Lose to win

It was a funny moment.

The rest of the team were agreed they would rather lose the Cup quarter final in order to have a chance at winning the plate competition than get annihilated in the Cup competition.

Even though you could argue finishing bottom of the cup meant finishing 4th out of 8 and winning the Plate meant finishing 5th out of 8.

But the captain didn’t see it that way.

In their minds, sport was simple, you try and win every game you play.

Which is admirable but there’s also great value in knowing your limitations and being strategic.

The rest of the team knew that losing 3 more games would hurt a lot.

Also it would feel good to walk away with a trophy and it would be easier to claim that’s what you wanted all along in the first place.
