I think the modern human has learned how to be well behaved in society.
Especially how to hold their tongue.
Therefore I think the best escapism comes in the form of TV shows, movies, and books where the character says what we would love to say but don’t have the courage to do so.
We squeal in delight as they deliver the line with such venom.
The same applies for those who crave adventure but lack the courage.
