At the Hill of Tara, the car park was some extra tarmac, there was no entry fee, a couple of signs at the bottom of the hill and no tour guides.
You walked up the hill and explored yourself.
The sign said part of the site was 3,000 years old.
Half an hour away by car was Newgrange.
Where there is a massive dedicated car park, a private bus that takes you from the car park to the site, an entry fee, UNESCO certification, set tour times, an exhibit, a cafe, and a dedicated tour guide.
The beautiful wall art said that Newgrange was also 3,000 years old.
So why does Newgrange get so much more resources than the Hill of Tara?
Well I think it boils down to – the people who worked on Newgrange did a more impressive job than the people who modified the Hill of Tara.
Similar to the pyramids in Egypt you’re left wondering – now how did they achieve that with what they had?
Turns out its not just age, it’s also how impressive as well.
