Let’s imagine you are the owner of a hotel the staff and guests believe there to be a ghost in the building.
You yourself consider all talk of ghosts to be nonsense and dismiss the chatter completely.
But the problem is that everyone else believes it and will no longer stay or work at your hotel.
You are hemorrhaging money by the second.
Therefore, I think, in this scenario it is worth paying the ghost consultant what they want to cleanse the building.
In order to buy the reassurance of the staff and guests.
There’s no point stubbornly going broke spouting logic.
If enough believe it and can’t be convinced otherwise then it’s worth paying the witch doctor.
