"It's not fair, it's a rigged game!"Referees get decisions wrong.The hiring process is flawed.Favouritism exists.I don't think anyone would argue that life is fair and I think complaining is a sign of someone who has come across an unjust obstacle that they've decided is too high for them to hurdle.

We may never be able to truly know the full extent of how our subconscious is pulling all the strings but I've learnt that 'numbing' is a subtle tactic for avoiding pain. So we can note a baseline and realize that an increase in numbing activity must mean that deep down something is disturbing us.

I think those assured in their argument use decibels sparingly. But the insecure and doubtful need volume when expressing their opinions. To hazard a guess at why, I think it's either to sound authoritative or to add an air of aggression to proceedings to intimidate those uncomfortable with confrontation.
