The 'All you can eat' buffet is a fantastic business model. The punters are happy to pay over the odds for the meal because they feel they're getting a bargain. But the majority of them never do. Their stomach size won't allow them and so the house wins. Over and over again.

Charm or manipulation
I think the difference between charm and manipulation is whether the 'victim' whistles or grumbles whilst doing it.
Terribly helpful movies
Watching a terrible movie can be as equally beneficial as a great movie. A great movie can inspire you and make you fall in love with the cinema. Watching a terrible movie can provoke unstoppable ideas of what the filmmakers should've done and thereby provide us with an insight into our own taste.
Turning Pro
In his amazing book The War of Art, Steven Pressfield talks about 'Turning Pro'. Now you might read that and think he's going to talk all about how to make money from your creative work and that would be an understandable conclusion to draw. However, Pressfield doesn't mention money at all. In fact, his narrative … Continue reading Turning Pro
Constraints
My favourite part of Austin Kleon's 'Steal like an Artist' is the below paragraph: "The right constraints can lead to your very best work. Dr. Seuss wrote The Cat in the Hat with only 236 different words, so his editor has bet him he couldn’t write a book with only 50 different words. Dr Seuss … Continue reading Constraints

But when a boss/parent/coach/lecturer has methods Parker cannot condone, he is livid. He roars: This is not the way things should be done! It … Continue reading Tolerance distance
Enlisting allies

The LGBTQ+ community realised that their cause would gain more momentum the more outsiders joined the ranks … Continue reading Enlisting allies

Descending fog
The fog descends. Clouding judgement and poisoning their decision tree. Tongue-tied and paralyzed, they can't move for fear of making a mistake. A portrait of a domineering inner critic.
