When I was younger i used to play Football Manager and a problem i always used to encounter was the blatant bias towards my favourite players. This became especially bad when they weren’t performing. I’d still start them ahead of lesser known more deserving players. I would rationalise it by saying ‘He just needs more game time’ or ‘What if this is the game he comes through on’. But really my continued favouritism was costing the team and I never won anything (without cheating).
I didn’t have the conviction to drop him. Sir Alex would have been disappointed in me. Sorry sir Alex.
You can see this emotion clouding logic everywhere. Keywords that are racking up the costs without converting, subscriptions to services you rarely use to name a few.
